The collection consists of faces of afrofuturistic beings birthed from Ancestral wisdom. Specifically the Adinkra symbols of the Akan Culture of West Afrika. The Adinkra are super-symmetric symbols of wisdom and aphorisms.

They were originally created by the Bono people of Gyaman, an Akan group in Ghana. It is said that the Chief (Nana Kwadwo Agyemang Adinkra) designed them, hence the name. Adinkra cloth was worn by the Gyaman Chiefs, and its use spread through other Akan cultures. They are commonly used in stool, cloth & pottery designs. The wisdom they hold though, is far beyond beautification.

This collection is a revival of this Ancestral wisdom. The pieces are my exploration of Adinkra, to convey empowering messages via the wisdom of the Ancestors. Each face thus evokes a unique energy from the message it carries.

The Adinkra alone are profound expressions. I am simply a vessel re-channeling it in new light, in honor of our Great Afrikan Cultures and the wisdoms they hold.
