Yura Kimakovych is a Ukrainian artist who makes abstract, geometric paintings that combine architectural clarity with poetic nuance.Born in Ivano-Frankivsk, he lives and works in Kraków, Poland, where he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts.,,His compositions pair the simplified forms and hard edges of minimalism with the spontaneous mark-making of abstract expressionism.
His paintings also bring in the human figure alongside geometric abstraction, working through the balance between structure and emotion.,Kimakovych has described his compositions as suprematist in spirit, built from the interplay of form, color, space and texture.
Kimakovych has shown his paintings in gallery exhibitions in Poland and Ukraine since 2017, including “Lack of Visual Empathy” at Detector Gallery in his native Ivano-Frankivsk in 2021. He also began showing digital work, taking part in the SCOPE Art Show during Art Basel Miami Beach in 2022 and in NFT New York City in 2023 and 2024.
On the platform Foundation, he presented Adaptation and Transition Research in 2023.In May 2024 he released THE HEAD on Foundation, an edition of 50, writing that the collection “explores my fears, establishes boundaries, and transcends them”.
