Sven Björn Fi is a generative artist known for his work on TALLY, a project that configures a quantum computer to make drawings.He developed it beginning in 2021 with the visual artist Matthieu Poli, the mathematician Alexis Toumi, and producer Camille Dedack,aiming to see whether a quantum computer could generate graphic results less predictable than those of a classical computer.
TALLY uses a robotic arm to draw compositions in real time,refining its own graphic style as visitors vote on the drawings they prefer.Those preferences are translated into a quantum circuit, in which logic gates correspond to compositional decisions,a process Fi has described as a way of tuning the quantum computer's evaluation of a composition to match the public's votes.The project was presented at the Némo biennale in Paris in December 2023 and at the World AI Cannes Festival in February 2024.
