Spike Gabio, known as GabioStudio, is an artist and data scientist whose work moves between physical gesture and digital transformation. Each piece begins with an analog act — a drawn line, a photograph, a small form modelled in plasticine — that is then carried through artificial intelligence and recorded onchain. For Gabio, the artwork is not only the final image, but “the visible trace of a process”.
GabioStudio's practice unfolds as a five-part research lineage that begins with A-To-D, an ongoing archive released through OpenSea that turns handmade drawn marks into digital animation while keeping the trace of their physical origin.,In Hybrid Alchemy, an opening triptych of three works released on Transient, Gabio starts from an original drawing, image, or gesture and develops it through what the project calls “a slow and deliberate dialogue with the machine”, yielding Origin, Flow, and Symbol.Corrupt Idols extends the same process into physical matter: small plasticine sculptures are photographed and then translated — rather than copied — by an AI process into works such as The First Corruption, Solar Relic, and The Red Witness, also released on Transient.,
Future Views gathers ten AI-generated, artist-directed scenes of imagined futures into a closed collection of ten editions each on Objkt, including The Singularity, Museum of Lost Weather, Where the Future Grows, and The Archive of Unlived Lives.The lineage closes with Pieces of Reality, in which photographs of everyday fruit and flowers, such as Study I — Fish Bowl and Study IV — Watermelon, are digitally altered into close studies the project describes as “Still Life 2.0” and released on Objkt.,Across the five projects, Gabio treats the blockchain not as a guarantee of permanence but, in their words, as “a form of public memory” that lets each transformation enter other collections and stories.
