Rinna ♥︎ 猫りんな is a Thai-born, Japan-based artist and designer who works across illustration, interactive art, hardware art and robotics, often turning a single idea into both a digital illustration and a handmade physical piece.,Trained in industrial design in Thailand and interactive design in London, Rinna founded the international art community ArtGumi and has described the goal of the work as sparking a small, positive heart flutter rather than awe.
During the isolation of 2020, Rinna made the Hug Series, illustrations celebrating the warmth of hugging that began as digital drawings and were then reworked into cut-paper artworks. Shown at Unknown Asia Art Exchange Osaka in 2020, the series grew past its planned eight pieces as Rinna kept adding to it.One piece from the series, Group Hug, was longlisted for the 2021 World Illustration Awards in London, selected from 5,280 entries submitted to the Association of Illustrators.
In 2018 the acrylic painting Silent Love Song treated vulnerability as a subject worth portraying.That same year Rinna was one of twenty artists invited to mark PostPet's 20th anniversary with a collaborative artwork shown in Tokyo.In 2024 the Blossom Whisper series turned QR codes into art, distorting their black-and-white patterns into colourful gradient shapes that stay machine-readable. The codes link to a mobile game of the same name, co-created with engineer Dango and launched alongside an exhibition in Osaka in July 2024.
Rinna's work has appeared at NFTNYC, including on a Times Square billboard in 2022, and at the 100+ Art Fair in Shenzhen in 2024. Rinna has also curated exhibitions for ArtGumi, including the ArtGumi DAO Exhibition at the Metasequoia Art Fair in Osaka in 2022.
