Rich Lord is a digital artist working in generative art, world-building and artificial life, producing electrifying, immersive imagery built from vibrant colors, geometric shapes and intricate detail.,Before working on the blockchain, he was a freelance 3D artist and animator working in Houdini, sharing how-to tutorials on his technique.
In August 2021 he released Geometry Runners, his second project on Art Blocks, a 1,000-piece animated generative collection in which colorful blocks race in team colors.,He described it as “an exciting, adrenaline-soaked thrill ride” in which the runners are “competing in the race of their lives”.Although Art Blocks Dutch auctions typically start high and decline until they sell out, Geometry Runners sold out immediately at its opening price of 5 ETH. The project donated over $3.4 million to charity, split between the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation and the Coalition for Rainforest Nations, more than any other Art Blocks project that August.
Lord also released Octo Garden through Art Blocks Factory. In 2025 his work was included in “Milestones: A History of Generative Breakthroughs on Art Blocks”, an exhibition curated by Kate Vass for Art Blocks' Marfa Weekend, alongside artists including Tabor Robak and Rafael Rozendaal. The generative artist Robert Hodgin has cited Lord's work, saying it can “straddle the line between cute and ominous”.
