Okayaman is a digital artist based in Okayama, Japan, who works primarily with Bitcoin Ordinals. His practice centers on dualism, the interplay of yin and yang, expressed through hand-drawn and watercolor compositions that draw on patterns from Ainu, Indian and African art. Before entering digital art in 2021, he spent more than twenty years as a touring guitarist and ten years practicing calligraphy under the pen name KIZAN.
He discovered NFTs in 2021 and began creating digital art, then found Bitcoin ordinals in February 2023 through another Japanese creator. Drawn to Bitcoin's permanence and the constraints of the ordinals format, he set out to establish artistic value within those limits. His collection Black, a hand-drawn concept art series, addresses confirmation bias and is displayed only in black on Magic Eden's index screen until a viewer actively engages with each piece. Its pieces are inscribed on uncommon black sats, and a child collection, KALEIDOSCOPE, uses p5.js to create interactive works of shifting colored boxes, with shadow works reinscribed on the same sats.
He also paints physical watercolors that he pairs with their on-chain counterparts, at times promising to gift the buyer the original painting alongside the inscription.In April 2025 he released hikari to kage on the platform Gamma, describing it as his largest hand-drawn work by file size at the time.His artistic influences include Abstract Expressionism, Pop Art and Postmodernism, and he cites Haegue Yang's Mesmerizing Mesh series as a source of inspiration.
