Josei, who also works under the name Bored Josei, is a self-taught illustrator whose flat-coloured, isometric artwork draws on anime and 90s childhood nostalgia.,Josei describes the practice as “exploring still life and surrealism with a nostalgic twist”.Since 2023, editions of the work have been released on the Foundation platform.
JoseiList and Time Warp are among the artist's featured works, alongside open edition releases such as Happiness, issued in August 2023, and Trick or Treat, issued that October. The auction piece The Lost Soul also dates to August 2023. Josei is active online as Bored Josei, posting under the handles @boredjosei on Instagram and @BoredJosei on Twitter.
