Fatemeh Akbari is an illustrator and visual artist whose work sits between illustration and fine art, made with both traditional and digital media to create poetic, dreamlike narratives. Her illustrations draw on human emotion, memory, poetry and nature, exploring themes of softness, longing and quiet emotional spaces through symbolic storytelling.
Born in Tehran, Akbari has drawn since childhood, combining details from other illustrations and paintings into her own magical world. She trained in drawing classes, and from 2016 worked as a children's art teacher, which deepened her connection to the emotional and imaginative world of childhood. That experience led her toward illustration and children's book art. She went on to earn a BA in Illustration in 2018 and an MA in Illustration in 2022. Since 2020 she has worked as a freelance illustrator for publishers, studios and creative companies. Since 2023 she has extended her practice into the NFT space. Her work has been shown internationally, including exhibitions and NFT events in Seoul, New York, Toronto, Dubai, Romania, Jordan and the Netherlands.
Her illustrated books include The Rolling Pumpkin, an Iranian folktale illustrated in 2022 as part of her master's thesis on the story's illustration history. She also illustrated The Wise Ram, an alphabet book published by Neshaneh Amooz Pub in 2024.
